The Bride

Really embarrassing, but I was always so afraid of every little silly thing as a child. A quiet dark room. Sharks in the deep end of the pool. Mirrors. That short moment when the air conditioning would turn on and the floors adjusted ever so slightly. LITERALLY EVERYTHING.

Well, basically all the things I didn’t actually have any real reason to be afraid of.

Time proved to be the best medicine and I grew up to be not afraid of any of these things…. thank goodness! I can adult now…kinda.

Despite my fear, I’ve always loved the Haunted Mansion Ride at Disney World since I was a little girl. For the most part, it’s always been the same. That repetition gave me a boost in confidence that I could “do the scary things” like the other kids.

So, when it came time to introduce my children to my favorite spooky attraction, I was insistent that they’d love it as well. Luckily for me, my wish came true, and my kids are always down to spend 7 minutes and 30 seconds riding in a doom buggy while mom and dad embarrass them with silly faces and fake screams. :)

Adelaide has always expressed a fascination with the attic sequence in the Haunted Mansion. Plainly speaking there is a black widow bride named Constance Hatchaway who has infamously gotten rid of her husbands with an axe. Adelaide doesn’t really care about that part of the backstory too much, but she is blown away by the special effects, voice-over acting, and pacing of this room.

I agree with her - it’s one of the coolest parts of the ride. Side note: Adelaide swears she is going to be a broadway actress one day but if that doesn’t work out for her, she could have one heck of a future in imagineering at Disney Parks.

She is so overly interested in figuring out how it all works.

Last year, Adelaide decided she wanted us all to be characters from the haunted mansion for halloween. She was Constance & her costume was nothing short of amazing but it had gotten way too small for her to do a repeat this year.

Y’all, Oh my goodness! This girl was distraught at the thought of that fabulous Constance costume sitting in a storage box forever being unused. So, I found another use!

I did an online search for halloween bride animatronics and found one from oriental trading express for $59.00 with shipping. Like, what a deal!

We added Adelaide’s costume from last year! There are no words for how happy this all made Adelaide.

With the entire costume added, our $59.99 animatronic bride looked INCREDIBLE. She was ready to be moved to her new home in the third story loft at the very top of our house.
